A spicy take on the traditional smash burger, perfect for summer and plant-heavy gatherings. Made with vegan beef, jalapenos, smoked tofu, and a spicy mayo, these burgers are sure to delight.
Ball up your vegan meat into 4 evenly sized balls.
Preheat your flat top or cast iron over high heat. Add 2 tbsp of oil to the pan and place 4 piles of the sliced jalapeno peppers, roughly 2 tbsp per burger.
Place your ball of meat on top of the peppers and smash the patties thin using a spatula and something to help push down the spatula, like a potato masher.
Place your sliced tofu on the grill and cook for 2 minutes a side, flipping halfway. Mindful not to burn it! Remove and set aside.
Carefully flip the patties and cook for another 3-5 minutes. Add the cheese and continue to cook. Add a splash of water to the pan and cover.
Combine sriracha and mayo to make a spicy mayo.
Build your burgers with enough cream cheese to cover the bottom bun, then the burger with peppers and melted cheese, and top with spicy mayo. Dig in and enjoy!
